C.C S2 E9 Elaine Delay on Writing a Debut Play in her 70's

Recorded at Elaine's lovely house.

Our guest this week is also a regular member of our writers group Friday Club Writes. Elaine Delay, a retired educator in her 70’s, came to us just over a year ago with a story she knew she needed to tell. Born and raised in East London, Elaine was inspired by her own families history; their part in the battle of Cable Street in 1936. Fast forward to April this year and Elaine has heard her full length play in development out loud in an event facilitated by us at The Space Theatre. Tune in to hear all about Elaine’s journey, a more in-depth discussion about the motivation for telling this story now and to bask in the wisdom of an extraordinary woman who feels like family to us now. We are so proud of Elaine and all she’s achieved; she reminds us that with dedication, curiosity and passion you’re never too old for anything. Happy Friday and happy listening.
